WATCH: Fireball streaks against Northeast Ohio sky

NORTH ROYALTON , Ohio (WJW) — A Northeast Ohio photographer got what he said might be the best local shots of a fireball lighting up the sky on Saturday night.

Ryan Connor of North Royalton, who's part of the American Meteor Society , in a Sunday email to FOX 8 News said he has two automated camera systems permanently mounted, watching the skies. Here's the result:

"The video capture system is a seven-camera design which specifically is for automated meteor captures," he wrote. "I record meteors every night where it's clear and capture fireball around once a month on average."

Nearly 300 other people reported a meteor, according to the society's website . One report from North Royalton just before midnight described a green flash that turned to red, burning out with flying sparks.

There were several different sources of meteoric activity active on Oct. 5, according to the society's website .

Connor told FOX 8 News he used to do advanced astrophotography, mostly capturing images of nebulae from his backyard, which were akin to images released by NASA.

"During that time of being outside, I observed many meteors and have since moved on from that hobby and focused more on recording/imaging the dynamic nature of the night sky," he wrote.

Connor said his American Meteor Society station is the only one in Ohio.
