The Panthers are coming off a 2023-24 campaign that saw one boat, the Varsity 4+, take home a bronze medal at the IRA National Championships, and one Panther, Arnedas Kelmelis, earn All-American status from the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA). Both accomplishments were the first time they were achieved in program history.
"We are excited to back at it for our 2024-25 campaign," stated Thorstad. "We learned a lot last year, finished strong at the IRA Championships, and are looking to carry that knowledge over into this season."
"The returners are hungry and ready to compete. The 11 new additions to the program will also allow us to grow and develop as a program. It should be a lot of fun to watch this team progress over the year."
The Spring season begins on Saturday, Feb. 15 when the Panthers host Embry-Riddle. Tech will then host Rollins the following Saturday, Feb. 22. Both events will take place at Canal 54.
The team will then travel to Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. for the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships on March 28-29.
On Sunday, April 13, the Panthers head North to Lorton, Va. for the Occoquan Invitational.
A week later, Tech will travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships at Melton Hill Lake on April 18-19.
The Dad Vail Regatta and Atlantic Association of Rowing Colleges (AARC) Championships will take place on May 9-10 in Cherry Hill, N.J.
The season rounds out the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships in Cherry Hill, N.J. from May 30-June 1. Only qualifying crews will participate at the IRA Championships.
