Wynne Evans broke down in tears live on It Takes Two after a surprise guest gatecrashed the show on Monday night.

The opera star, 52, and his professional partner Katya Jones , 35, became the eighth pair to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday.

While discussing their time on the competition, the duo were left shocked when their co-star Jamie Borthwick appeared on the set of its companion show.

The EastEnders star said that he had a 'friend for life' and the show 'won't be the same' now that Wynne has been voted off.

Katya added: 'This is what Strictly is about. No one is going to remember the scores, the comments we got, it's the friendships that have been created.

'The genuine, genuine relationships.'

Struggling to contain his emotions, Wynne began to tear up live on air as Katya continued: 'I'm so glad that you had each other.

'Every single week we would get through.

'It's absolutely beautiful to see.'

It comes after Katya suffered an awkward blunder on Saturday's instalment during her performance with Wynne.

The pair took to Blackpool's Tower Ballroom with a Charleston routine to Carmen Suite No. 1: 5. Les Toreadors by George Bizet.

As the end of the routine included a shower of flying roses, Katya was hit in the face by a flower.

But the ballroom icon was quick to recompose herself and graciously stand back on her feet - shortly before the dancing duo learned they would be booted out from the competition.

Wynne and Katya lost to Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe in a nail-biting dance-off.

Judge Anton Du Beke called the performance 'extraordinary', but added that Wynne looked exhausted two thirds of the way in and as a result his form dropped.

During the judging though, Craig disagreed about the loss of momentum - but still complained about flat-footedness and swivel (or lack of)

The duo were awarded a total of 31 for their dance which placed them second to last, just ahead of Pete Wicks who fared far worse.

The reality star and Jowita performed a Cha Cha to I'm Too Sexy by Right Said Fred.

Strictly fans were shocked by Sunday's results - as they questioned why Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał weren't in the bottom two.

The former TOWIE star, 36, told the audience he wanted to do this dance as a thank you to Jowita, before joking it was the 'worst thank-you in the world'.

Their dance scored a total of 27 including a paltry four from Craig, placing him at the bottom of the judge's leaderboard

The TOWIE star and his partner finished bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night, but made it through on the public vote

On Saturday Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell performed an American Smooth to Jump by Paul Anka, wowing the judges who awarded them a staggering 37 out of 40.

Meanwhile Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec showed the judges their Paso Doble to Torn by Nathan Lanier, impressing once again and proving their place at the top of the leaderboard.
