Waynesboro man charged with shooting into occupied vehicle in Augusta

A Waynesboro man is behind bars after Augusta County authorities say he shot a gun into an occupied vehicle Sunday.

David Lee Blair, 27, has been charged with attempted malicious wounding, maliciously shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and using, attempting to use or displaying in a threatening manner a firearm while committing or attempting to commit aggravated malicious wounding.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the 200 block of White Hill Road in the Mint Spring area about 8:30 a.m. Sunday after reports that multiple shots had been fired. The reports also claimed several of the shots hit a vehicle. The suspect car was identified as a tan, four-door Buick sedan, which left the scene.

Blair turned himself in to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office later Sunday after he was identified as the lead suspect.

He is being held at without bond at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

While no one was injured, the victim's vehicle was hit several times by gunfire. Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith said in a statement that "this was an isolated domestic incident, thankfully the victim and no one from the public was harmed during this dangerous situation."
