PENNSBORO, W.Va. (WBOY) — After its opening was delayed by floods this past spring, the Pennsboro Speedway has announced that it will return in just a little over a month.

According to a Facebook post from the speedway, site and track preparations are already underway for the three-day revival of the speedway during the weekend from Oct. 24-26.

"We have encountered a number of obstacles in the past year but that won't change our resolve. We will work with what we have and push to open for the Mason-Dixon 100 featuring the XR Super Series ," the post said.

The track was initially planned to open at the end of May this year, but was delayed by heavy flooding that struck north central West Virginia in April, something that officials with the track described as a "final blow" to an already weather-dependent project. As a result, all summer races were canceled, and opening day was delayed to October.

"It's going to be old school Pennsboro. We will have to make some adjustments to the grounds and the facility to make this happen. It may not be the most modern but the magic will be back," the post said.

Officials said that they will release updates when they have news and that tickets will not be on sale anytime soon. "Until then the grind is underway."
