BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The driver and occupants of a convertible are apparently safe after their vehicle somehow or another left Glades Road and ended up in a large body of water near West Boca High School and South County Park Thursday night. The address of the incident: the 11900 block of Sunchase Court.

Sources familiar with the rescue tell BocaNewsNow.com that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office both rushed to the scene around 10 p.m. when callers reported a truck into a canal or pond. First responders were on the scene within moments — it's yards from a fire house — and learned that all three occupants of the vehicle had safely made it to shore.

The "truck," as authorities later determined, was actually a convertible. We have no idea yet what type of convertible or whether the roof was opened or closed. We also have no idea at this point how the vehicle ended up in the body of water. We are awaiting an official update from PBSO.

It is not believed that any of the occupants of the vehicle needed medical attention. No other vechiles were apparently involved. The stretch of West Glades Road near West Boca High, the community of Boca Falls, and South County Regional Park is extremely dark and does include a slight curve that may be difficult to discern for new drivers or drivers new to the area.
