West Metro Fire saves bird hooked in fishing line at a Colorado park

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KKTV) - West Metro Fire Rescue said early Wednesday afternoon, a local came by station 8 to get help after finding a bird having trouble at a local park. Fire rescue said their Tower 8 crew arrived at Kendrick Lake Park in Lakewood to find a bird, which they believe to be a female Merganser hooked into some fishing line. Crews said they waded out into the water and brought the bird back to the shoreline where they worked to remove the hook and line which was wrapped around the bird's neck. Crews said they were able to remove the hook and line and released her back into the water.
