Wexford business to plant 10 million trees by 2030 – ‘We all have to be serious about our efforts’

Wexford Home Preserves, the family business that makes award-winning jams, marmalades and savoury preserves in small batches, has announced their collaboration with Reforest Nation, Ireland's leading tree planting organisation, to support their ambitious goal of planting 10 million trees over the next six years. As business owners who are focused on sustainability, Tom and Laura Sinnott have already attained Bord Bia Origin Green Gold membership, invested in 100 solar panels to power their batch kitchen in New Ross and continue to operate a policy of sourcing fruit as locally as possible. Now they have made a commitment to supporting the planting of native trees across Ireland and beyond. Having been established in 1988 by Tom's aunt Ellen, all products are made by hand in small batches in the Wexford Home Preserves kitchen using all natural ingredients. "We all have to be serious about our efforts as a business to reduce our carbon footprint and as parents to leave the planet in a better condition for our children", Mr Sinnott commented. "Reforest Nation is an amazing organisation that has already planted over a million trees and is making a difference to Ireland's biodiversity. We want to be part of this and to support them in their work." Also commenting on the partnership for the project, founder of Reforest Nation, Gearóid McEvoy said: "From the inception of Reforest Nation, our dream was clear: to restore Ireland's natural heritage, champion biodiversity, and craft a legacy for future generations. "Collaborations like the one with Wexford Home Preserves propel us closer to this dream and signifies a step toward reclaiming our environment," he concluded.
