Wexford plays host to acclaimed 9/11 Ground Zero exhibition

On Monday, November 11, the Ground Zero 360 exhibition was launched at the Dunbrody Exposition Building by former New Ross Standard journalist, David Looby. Artist Nicola McClean and retired NYPD inspector Paul McCormack created this exhibition to honour the victims, families, and first responders of the attacks on the twin towers in New York in 2001. On September 11, 2001, New York City was shaken to its core following the attacks and in the wake of the chaos, New York-based Irish photographer Nicola McClean responded in the only way she knew how; she picked up her camera and took to the street to try and capture the confusion and panic that surrounded her. Through harrowing visuals, heart-breaking "missing posters" and a unique panoramic installation, Ground Zero 360 is a step into the past to what eight million New Yorkers were feeling in the days that followed the attacks. There is also a collection of personal effects and belongings and samples of steel from the towers, along with stone from the façade, artwork and photos. The exhibition is now on display at the new Dunbrody Exposition Building on the Quay, New Ross and will run for the month of November.
