Wexford’s One Act Drama Festival in Gorey – all the results from the stage

"There was something for everybody" across the three nights of the One Act Drama Festival in Gorey Little Theatre recently.

The festival which ran from Thursday, November 7 to Saturday, November 9, saw Paula Dempsey as the adjudicator, while Chairperson of Gorey Festival David Pepper and Drama League of Ireland Chairperson Edward Hayden were also in attendance to assist with presenting the prizes on the final night.

Three plays took place at the theatre each night and after the second play there was a break for tea and coffee.

"There was a great atmosphere throughout the festival and it was lovely to have the winning play at the open, it was our neighbours in Kilrush so we were delighted to see them winning," said committee member of Gorey Little Theatre, Jan Cullen.

The results were as follows.

Confined Section

Best Actress: Nicola Devine, Navan Theatre Group, I'm not A.D.H.D. I'm B.O.L.D. by Georgina McKevitt & Jacinta Sheerin.

Best Actor: Patrick O'Malley, Oranmore Drama Group, Adrift by George Infini .

Best Director: Liam Brady, Navan Theatre Company

Best Play: Navan Theatre Company.

Adjudicator Award: Oranmore DG.

Open Section

Best Actress: Ellie Willoughby, Kilrush Drama Group Normal by Cationa Daly.

Best Actor, Frank Duffy, Coolgreany DG, Lovely People by Niall Hunter

Best Play: Kilrush DG

Best Director- Mick Byrne, Kirush DG

Adjudicator Award, Bunclody/ Kilmyshall DG, The Donoghue Sisters by Geraldine Aron.
