What presence of Micah Parsons’ uncle means for Cowboys LB’s Thanksgiving Day sack chances

E.Garcia3 months ago
FRISCO — Chances are Micah Parsons comes away from the Thanksgiving Day game with a sack.

This isn’t a statement on the Washington offensive line.

It’s a statement on the linebacker’s uncle Marcell being at the game.

Parsons has wanted his uncles to attend his games since he first began the sport. He remembers their response to this day from those early years.

“They were like, ‘Man, if I’m coming, my nephew has got to be good. I’m not going to waste my time,’’' Parsons said.

“So any time they came, I made sure I put on a show.’’

It turns out one of them is particularly good luck. So when Uncle Marcell told him he didn’t know if he could afford a trip to Dallas for this week’s game, Parsons offered to fly him to the game.

The proof that Marcell is good for him?

“I got about eight sacks with him in attendance,’’ Parsons said of this season. “We’re 4-1. He came to the Niner game. I said, ‘Man, your luck must have ran out.’’'

Parsons thought about that for a minute.

“Oh, no,’’ he said. “We’re 4-2. We lost against the Eagles. He came to the Eagles game. But I definitely did have a sack.

“On the sacks side, we’re good. He’s about 50-50 right now (recent record). His track record is good, though.’’
