Polling locations are set to open at 6 a.m.

Chief Election Officer Darren Lombard for the City of New Orleans says there are 118 polling locations across Orleans Parish with 756 polling machines.

In regard to preparations, Lombard said the process takes months.

"It involves several entities including the city council, the sheriff's office, the Board of Registrars Office also the Secretary of State. So we are all partners in this and it takes a lot of input from other agencies to put it on," said Lombard.

On the topic of election interference, he says its a matter of transparency.

"In my office it's a matter of transparency. if anyone has a question, they would usually call us and at that point, we would invite them to have a conversation and if they want to they can take the journey with us. If you want to come in and watch the machine being sealed or count the vote, we allow that."

He adds that there are New Orleans deputies with them involved in transporting the machines.

Lombard said that Orleans Parish is the largest parish in the state, therefore results usually get our results rapped up by 10:30 p.m.
