Charleston Middle School stages fall musical
CHARLESTON — Performances of Charleston Middle School's fall musical, Disney's "Frozen Jr.," are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday, in Charleston High School's Swickard Auditorium.

Music Bingo fundraiser for MHS set
MATTOON — Mattoon High School will host a Music Bingo night at the Mattoon Eagles at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, to benefit the high school positive incentive program.
Must be 21 to attend. Individual tickets are $30, or a table of eight can be purchased for $200. The event will have a cash bar and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are available in the main office of Mattoon High School.
Two-Day Book Sale at Effingham Library
EFFINGHAM — The Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library will host a book sale on Friday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m.-noon, featuring new, lightly used and vintage books in a wide array of categories.
Donations of good, slightly-used books are accepted at the library check-out desk during regular library hours. Proceeds from the sale will go toward special projects at the library.
Stewards work day at Reasor Park
CHARLESTON — The Embarras Volunteer Stewards will hold a work day from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Reasor Park, 2414 University Drive, with Urban Butterfly Initiative.
All are welcome and no prior experience is necessary. Sturdy footwear and gloves are recommended. Tools are provided. Events may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

Annual St. Charles Borromeo church holiday bazaar
CHARLESTON — St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will hold its Annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The church is at 921 Madison, Charleston.
Crafters will be selling jewelry, art, crocheted items, garden glass flowers, Christmas items, handmade greeting cards, stained glass, honey products, mittens, body products, children's hair bows and more. There will also be a silent auction. The St. Charles Women of Faith will be selling homemade candies and cookies, and lunch will be offered beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the bazaar will be used to benefit local community and parish projects.
Art gallery to hold Studio Days activity
SHELBYVILLE — Studio Days, an activity of Keepers of the Arts at Flourishes Gallery, at 140 1/2 E. Main, Shelbyville, is a chance for all art-interested persons to set up an area during the week of Nov. 11-16 (Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) to start, continue with or finish an art project.
Surrounded by art and artists, participants can come and go as they wish for as many hours or days of the week as they see fit. Some may want to see what others are doing, use the resources available, or just bring in their art to be critiqued.
There is no cost, and participants bring whatever materials they need.
A critique time will be held each day at 1 p.m. and at other times as needed.

Alpha Upsilon business meeting set
MATTOON — Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will meet for their next business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Knights of Columbus Clubhouse, 312 N. 20th St., Mattoon.
Guest speaker Andy Cougill, Lake Land College librarian, will talk about artificial intelligence and other topics, with a question-and-answer session following.

I-Cash program workshop at Greenup Library
GREENUP — Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs' staff will be at the Greenup Township Public Library, 101 N. Franklin St., from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, to help reunite citizens with missing money property through the I-Cash program.
In Cumberland County, an estimated 10,700 people have unclaimed cash or property, with the total value exceeding $1.4 million.
In Illinois, the state treasurer is tasked with safeguarding missing money, such as unpaid life insurance benefits, forgotten bank accounts and unused rebate cards. Illinois holds more than $5 billion in unclaimed property. The state treasurer is legally required to return the property to the rightful owners, no matter how long it takes.
Individuals can search the state treasurer's database for their name or the name of their business or nonprofit at illinoistreasurer.gov/icash .
