WOODBRIDGE, VA — Thursday, Nov. 23 is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance. Many government offices and services will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 24 for Black Friday, allowing workers a four-day weekend.

Here are all the openings and closings to know around Prince William County For Thanksgiving on Nov. 23 and Black Friday on Nov. 24.

  • Prince William County government offices: Closed on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.
  • Prince William County Schools: Schools and administrative offices will be closed on Nov. 22, Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.
  • Post offices and mail: Closed on Thanksgiving Day. No mail will be delivered.
  • County Courts: All Prince William County courts and court offices will not take cases on Nov. 23 and 24.
  • Virginia Railway Express: The VRE will not operate on Thanksgiving.
  • OmniRide Bus Services: No OmniRide buses will operate on Thanksgiving Day. OmniRide Express buses will not operate on Black Friday, but other OmniRide services will operate normally.
  • Libraries: Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The Dale City, Dumfries, and Lake Ridge branches will be closed on Saturday.
  • Landfill/Recycling: The County Landfill in Manassas and the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility are closed Thanksgiving Day. Residents may take recycling to several drop-off trailers throughout the county
