Today, Saturday, is the last day of summer, and fall begins tomorrow.

Summer 2024 set heat records , but it's going out with mild temperatures and a chance of rain in the Harrisburg area.

  • The National Weather Service in State College is calling for a small chance of showers this morning and early afternoon; that chance increases after 3 p.m. and could include thunderstorms. The Weather Channel says central Pennsylvania is most likely to see thunderstorms this evening, around 7 to 8.

    Western Pennsylvania has a greater chance of storms this afternoon and evening, with gusty winds and hail.

    The high temperature today in Harrisburg is supposed to reach 81.

    There's a greater chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight into early Sunday morning, especially around 3 to 5 a.m., the weather service says. The first day of autumn will have a high temperature almost 10 degrees lower than Saturday, forecasters say.
