Where does Penn State rank in the updated Coaches Poll?

R.Campbell27 min ago

Penn State took care of business Saturday, beating up on Kent State to finish out its nonconference portion of the schedule with a 3-0 record. The Nittany Lions were dominant on both sides of the ball, totaling a school-record 718 yards of total offense in the win. The defense also held the Golden Flashes to just 67 yards, half of which came on one drive early in the second quarter.

However, with each of the schools ranked ahead of them either on a bye week or winning convincingly, there wasn't much movement in the updated Coaches Poll, as Penn State remains at No. 8 nationally. The Nittany Lions were previously tied with Missouri in that spot, but the Tigers received fewer votes this week following an overtime win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.

James Franklin and his staff will now shift their focus to an Illinois squad that was already ranked in the Associated Press Poll but now makes its debut in the Coaches Poll following Friday night's win on the road at Nebraska. The Fighting Illini are now ranked No. 8 in the poll.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Ohio State and Oregon are both still ahead of Penn State at No. 3 and No. 7, respectively. USC did drop to No. 16 following its late loss to Michigan on the road. The Wolverines moved up to No. 12.
