Where Rutgers landed in bowl projections after Nebraska loss: This low-level game became popular pick

Rutgers could find itself in Detroit the day after Christmas this winter.

The Scarlet Knights (4-1, 1-1) suffered their first loss of the season to Nebraska (5-1, 2-1) this weekend, and their standing in bowl projections fell with them. Following the 14-7 defeat in Lincoln , multiple predictions point to head coach Greg Schiano's team facing a MAC opponent in the Detroit Bowl on Dec. 26th at Ford Field.

Rutgers previously featured in the Detroit Bowl — previously known as the Quick Lane Bowl — in 2014, when it defeated North Carolina.

The low-level bowl game was one of three potential destinations for the Scarlet Knights, based on the major projections posted following this weekend's action.
