Snoop Dogg seems to dabble in a little bit of everything, from making music to commentating at the Olympics Games and pursuing side quests with Martha Stewart. Throughout his various ventures, though, the rapper has given credit to his wife, Shante Broadus, for helping shape his success along the way.

During the Oct. 17 episode of TODAY with Hoda & Jenna , Snoop talked about how he feels supported by his wife and listed the reasons he considers Broadus his "best friend."

"One is that she always understood who I was and who I needed to become," he explained. "And then, on the second reason is, her just being my backbone, my foundation, my support, my reality, my other half of parenting, showing me how to be a better father and to be a better husband and a better grandfather."

Here's what to know about Snoop Dogg's wife of 27 years, Shante Broadus, and why he considers her his "best friend."

Broadus is an entrepreneur in her own right Broadus is the founder of Boss Lady Entertainment, a music management company, and she is listed as a producer of Snoop's documentary "Reincarnated," per IMDb .

Broadus also manages the Compound, an event space with recording and dance studios used by her husband, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Cardi B and more, according to Forbes .

In 2005, Broadus and Snoop started a headwrap scarf line called the Broadus Collection after her daughter, Cori Broadus, was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease that "can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body," per the Lupus Foundation of America .

"I would put a scarf on her," Broadus told W Magazine in 2021 , reflecting on Cori's hair falling out when she was six years old. "And so she wouldn't feel like she was the only one wearing scarves, we all wore scarves with her to make her feel less alone."

In 2021, Broadus became Snoop's official manager, per a press release , which stated that her job involved working on developing Snoop's current projects and collaborations, while strengthening partnerships across the "cannabis, spirits, gaming, music, brand partnerships, touring, licensing and TV/film space."

"The industry at large is seeing a major shift in more representation of Black women in key executive roles," Broadus said in the release. "I am excited to enter this official position, helping to further expand Snoop's wide-ranging empire.

"I have been by Snoop's side for over two decades so together with the rest of the team, our goal is to strengthen Snoop's legacy as a brand with the loyalty and trust of our guidance that has made Snoop who he is today," she continued.

How did Shante Broadus and Snoop Dogg meet? Broadus and Snoop met while attending high school and went to prom together, per a throwback post shared by Broadus in July 2020.

"Even before he came out (as a musician), our friends and I were his fans," Broadus told W Magazine in Sept. 2021. "We would always listen to his songs and give our opinions. When he became popular, I was still helping them with deals and offers."

Snoop has also talked about their early days as a couple, telling TODAY in 2023 that the reason his marriage has worked since high school is because they were both willing to work towards each other's goals.

"We were both young and we both were willing to sacrifice for each other," he said on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna in August 2023. "She knew what my dreams and goals was and at the same time, I knew what hers were."

Shante Broadus and Snoop Dogg has had ups and downs in their marriage While on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna in August 2023, Snoop said that growing together and forming a family were the couple's initial goals, but that came with challenges.

"To have a family and to be who we are is what we both initially wanted to try to get to that goal and when we reached it, it was hard, definitely, because, you know, you've got so many different things pulling you away from marriage and people divorcing every other day," he told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

"But when you truly love somebody, there ain't nothing you can do to break that up, and I feel like that was true love at first sight."

The couple share three kids together: Cordé, Cordell and Cori. Snoop also has a son, Julian, outside of his marriage with Broadus.

Snoop told TODAY in 2015 that his role as a father trumps all other parts of his life.

"My relationship with my kids is more important than anything," he said. "It's a friendship relationship ... it's based on me being a father, a mentor and a friend."

In 1997, Broadus and Snoop tied the knot. However, their marriage hit a rough patch in the early 2000s, leading to Snoop filing for divorce in 2004 , although he never went through with it.

Broadus told People in 2010 that Cori's lupus diagnosis was one of the factors that kept her and Snoop from divorcing.

"It's amazing how this all turned out," she said. "We were gonna get a divorce. But we wouldn't have gotten through it (that way)."

In the same interview, Snoop added, "That's what it boiled down to. Cori's lupus showed us we need to be together forever."

In 2008, Snoop and Broadus renewed their vows, as seen in an episode of "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood."

On June 15, 2024, Snoop and Broadus both posted pictures together on Instagram in celebration of 27 years of marriage.

They both used simple captions of "#TwentySeven" with various emoji.

Shante Broadus 'stepped up' when Snoop Dogg's mom died While Snoop appeared on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna on Oct. 17, the "Sweat" singer opened up about how his wife was there for him when his mom died.

"When I lost people in my life, more particularly, when I lost my mother, she was so there with celebration, with making sure my mother looked right, making sure that the family felt right, and made sure she did things that my spirit and my soul couldn't handle at the time," Snoop described.

He said Broadus has "stepped up" and handled difficult moments for him.

"There's been many times where I've been at my lowest, she's always been the strongest to keep me back up."
