On the arms of the biggest star of Britpop and the king of romcoms, they were part of arguably the two hottest 'it couples' of the 1990s.

But while Patsy Kensit and Liam Gallagher 's marriage and Elizabeth Hurley 's tumultuous 13-year relationships with Hugh Grant are as much relics of the era as bucket hats and flip phones, the friendship between the two women is still going strong.

The pair first met on the set of the forgotten '90s thriller Kill Cruise, and over the weekend, Liz, 59, shared a sizzling throwback snap of the pair in the film to celebrate their 35 years of friendship.

She added a picture of them a few days earlier at a breast cancer charity fundraising lunch, prompting Patsy to respond: 'Fifi I love you so much and love being Aunt Ratticus to beautiful Damian.'

Their friendship has endured through multiple heartaches, with Liz eventually splitting from Hugh in 2000 and Patsy and Liam divorcing acrimoniously that same year.

Yet with '90s nostalgia sweeping the UK in the wake of the Oasis reunion, it's perhaps no surprise that Elizabeth also looks back on their days as a foursome with great fondness, describing how the notoriously gruff Mancunian would do the washing up when he came to stay at her mother's cottage with Patsy.

Speaking on Ken Bruce's Golden Years show on Greatest Hits Radio, she revealed how she spent a lot of time with the band in the early '90s when Patsy was married to Liam.

'So we saw a lot of them and it was amazing because, you know, Patty is very old friend of mine and she's like a sister,' she explained.

'When I was about to meet Liam for the first time, I didn't really know what to expect, I thought he was this insane, wild... you know Manchester man and he was absolutely adorable.

'They used to come to my, [then] my mum and dad's little cottage in the country, and Liam would help with the washing up and he was just adorable.'

She added: 'They [Liam and Patsy] were adorable, and so that made me love Oasis even more and I remember I used to go backstage on some of their gigs.

'Again, thinking they could be wild and what's going on and they'll be sitting there doing the crossword! And, you know, in cardis and stuff and they were just heaven.'

Similarly, Patsy has equally fond memories of Liz and Hugh as a couple.

'Hugh is the funniest man — he and Elizabeth both have the best sense of humour. They were great together,' she told The Times .

When Elizabeth and Patsy met on the set of Kill Cruise, they were both budding actresses hoping to hit the big time.

It was Elizabeth's first role as a leading lady, but the film wasn't exactly a hit, with Patsy later describing it as 'a shocking German film'm which was shot in Malta.

The pair adopted thick Leeds accents to pay two strippers who persuade German skipper Jurgen Prochnow to sail them across the Atlantic, from Gibraltar to Barbados.

Things went sour when Patsy's character realised that Jurgen fancied Elizabeth and not her.

Whill Kill Cruise sank without a trace, thanks to poor reviews, it cemented the bond between the two women.

When Liam and Patsy's son Lennon was born in 1999, Elizabeth was their choice for godmother.

However after Liam and Pasty divorced in 2000 Liz and Patsy appeared to grow apart some what.

Asked by The Independent in 2005 if she was still best friends with Elizabeth Hurley, Patsy said: 'Actually, my best friend is a lady called Ang, who's a normal mum.

'Elizabeth is a girlfriend of mine but we don't see each other much because our lives are in different places at the moment.

'My life isn't very showbizzy any more.'

They then found their way back to each other over the few years that followed.

Elizabeth was Patsy's bridesmaid at her wedding fourth wedding in 2008 to DJ Jeremy Healy. They split just a year after marrying with Liz being a shoulder for her to cry on.

Earlier this year Patsy rekindled her romance with the property tycoon Patric Cassidy - who she was engaged to, but they split in May before he could become husband number five.

Prior to marrying LIam and then Dan, she first walked down the aisle in 1988 with Dan Donovan, from 1980s pop group Big Audio Dynamite. The couple divorced in 1991.

Patsy then married Simple Minds front man Jim Kerr in 1992. the couple went on to welcome their son James in 1993 but divorced three years.

Meanwhile, Liz's love life has also been a rollercoaster.

After splitting from Hugh in 2000, she went on to date film producer Steve Bing, who initially tried to deny he was the father of her son Damian.

She was married to multi-millionaire textile heir Arun Nayar from 2007 to 2011 and was engaged to the late cricketer Shane Warne, before ending their relationship in 2013.

Businessman Steve died by suicide at the age of 55 in June 2020 and cricketer Shane died at the age of 52 following a heart attack in March 2022.

Fast forward to 2024 and on Sunday they celebrated 35 years of friendship with a sizzling throwback snap.

Elizabeth shared it alongside a photo of the pair as they reunited at Estee Lauder's Future Dreams Ladies Lunch at The Savoy Hotel last week.

They looked sensational despite the passing of three decades with Elizabeth in a pink off the shoulder Rebecca Vallance midi dress, while Patsy opted for a chic and figure-hugging black look.

The Austin Powers star captioned the post: '35 years of friendship with First pic is the day we met and second pic is a few days ago'.

Patsy replied: 'Oh my darling fifi I love you so much and love being aunt ratticus to beautiful [Elizabeth's son] Damian'.

The photo was taken on the set of Kill Cruise, which was released in 1990, a movie that saw the two play British women taken on a tour from from Gibraltar to the West Indies by a drunken sailor.

Elizabeth went on to star in big screen films including 1997's Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and 2000's Bedazzled.

On TV she's also appeared in The Royals and Gossip Girl, as well as launching her own beach wear collection.

Meanwhile Patsy has had an equally impressive career and starred alongside Mel Gibson in 1989's Lethal Weapon 2, as well EastEnders, Emmerdale and Holby City.

Elizabeth caught up with her pal at the swanky London bash, where she was also joined by lookalike son Damian, 22.

The stunner completed her look with some pink strappy shoes and a tiny sparkly pink handbag adorned with a pink bow.

While his mother opted for colour, Damian kept things sophisticated in an all black ensemble.

Damian and his mother often attend events together and were last seen earlier this month all glammed up to celebrate Hugh Grant's 64th birthday.
