The city moves to comply with Senate Bill 1893, which requires all panels of government in the state to remove TikTok from city or government-issued devices. Medicare Open Enrollment deadline looms: Clay County clears up misinformation According to city attorney Kinley Hegglund, the city needed to be in compliance by Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The city's social media policy has been updated to state that 'an employee found to violate the policy is subject to disciplinary action or termination'. "We've been working on this for a while," Hegglund said. "We think it's a good policy and I just want to make it clear that it's applicable, not just to the employees, but to all staff and council members. I know we all have city devices. We have to all make sure that we don't have TikTok either." The app is facing a national ban after President Biden signed a law to ban TikTok or force its sale to a U.S. company.
