One of the most famous beers from back in the days is making a return after almost 30 years with drinkers being able to grab a sip from the past.

Drinkers will taste for nostalgia and be able to to enjoy Double Diamond, which pubgoers use to be able to drink across the country.

The drink's logo was recognised along with its famous TV slogans 'Double diamond works wonders' as well as 'You're only here for the beer'.

In the 50s, the drink began to grow in popularity and became the nation's best selling bottled beer.

It did not stop there and for the next two decades it was was one of the most succesful draught keg bitters.

However, following the rise in competition from other beer brands in brands in the market began to affect its sales.

However, now, Allsopp's which made the beer in 1976 in Burton upon Trent has now announced that the drink is back, the Mirror reports.

It said that after months of research and trying out different recipes it is relaunching Double Diamond.

It said: 'Revived as a 3.8% pale ale, it is a delicious, easy-going sessionable draft beer coming very soon to your favourite pubs.'

Drinkers at leeds' Kirkstall Bridge pub were left impressed with the come back, calling it 'stunning'.

It comes as MailOnline revealed last month that wine is set to overtake beer as Britain's most-loved alcoholic drink,

Adults in the UK sink 39 bottles Sauvignon blanc and Merlot on average each year, data shows.

Consumption has soared 12-fold since the 1960s, partly fuelled by higher boozing rates among women.

Beer intake, meanwhile, has more than halved since its heyday five decades ago – from the equivalent of 276 pints a year to 110.

Industry experts claimed wine's overthrowing of beer as Britain's best-loved drink was 'a long time coming'.

Others guessed the booming popularity of spirits might also see beer overtaken again in the near future.

Figures compiled by the World Health Organization (WHO) show how much alcohol is consumed via different drinks.

The typical Briton aged 15 or over consumes 9.75l of pure alcohol each year.
