Will September Reign lead to Red October for Astros?

R.Campbell33 min ago

The Houston Astros final game of the regular season was rained out in Cleveland. But it's still possible that those two teams will meet at some point with the MLB playoffs about to set sail on Tuesday.

Houston finishes the season with 88 wins and if they're to get to another American League Championship Series, they'll have to do it the hard way.

The playoff format is a little different this year.

The top two teams in each league get a bye. In the American League, that would be the Yankees and Cleveland. In the NL, the Dodgers and Phillies get automatic bids to the Divisional round.

The Astros are the 3rd seed by virtue of winning their division and will host the Detroit Tigers in a Best of 3 starting on Tuesday. Houston will host all three games, at least.

This Astros team started 12-24, was besieged by injuries again, yet here they are for the 8th straight season playing playoff baseball.

No team in baseball has won more playoff games in the Wild Card era than the Astros. All three games against Detroit will have a 1:32 pm central start time. Astros Alex Bregman and Mauricio Dubon give some insight to Max Sports as to how they've gotten to this point on the attached video clip.
