Wilton Gas Prices Continue To Fall, As Seasonal Demand Drops
In Wilton, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $2.95 at the CITGO at 386 Danbury Road , and at the Shell at 210 Danbury Road . The update was posted Wednesday morning by shopping app GasBuddy .
Supply and demand forces suggest new yearly lows for gasoline prices could be on the horizon. With 28 states now showing average retail prices below $3 a gallon, demand is dropping along seasonal expectations. Last week, domestic demand fell to 8.8 million barrels a day, down more than 400,000 barrels a day week-to-week, according to the Energy Information Administration .
In Connecticut, a gallon of self-service regular is averaging $3.04, down a penny from last week and down a nickel from last month. The national average is $3.07, down three cents from a week ago and down thirteen cents from a month ago.
"As domestic demand experiences autumnal cooling, global demand is acting like an anchor for global oil and gas prices as well," said Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast. "Cheaper oil and lower demand could push retail gasoline prices to yearly lows if the trend continues."
Here's AAA's weekly price survey of Connecticut's six metro regions:
On Tuesday, Oklahoma and Texas had the lowest prices in the nation at $2.58 and $2.65, respectively. Hawaii and California hold the highest prices in the nation this week at $4.58 and $4.50, respectively. Connecticut holds the 20th place on the list of highest gas prices in the nation.
