Wintry blast continues with chance of more snow today
"Snow will increase from south to north across our forecast area this morning," the National Weather Service's hazardous weather outlook states. "The Palmer Divide and east-central plains will see moderate to heavy snow through this evening. Snowfall totals will be between 6 to 10" today and hazardous to nearly impossible travel will exist."
The NWS predicts .5-2" of snowfall on the north side of the Denver metro area and towards Akron and warns of "slick and snow-covered roads" in the region. The snow is expected to taper off this evening but return Friday morning.
In Sterling, expect a high around 36 today with a 50% chance of precipitation.

Today: A chance of snow before 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 36. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tonight: A chance of rain and snow before 3am, then a slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Light south southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Friday: A chance of snow before 11am, then rain and snow between 11am and 1pm, then rain after 1pm. High near 39. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Friday Night: Rain before 2am, then rain, possibly mixed with snow. Low around 29. North northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Saturday: A chance of rain and snow before 9am, then a chance of rain between 9am and 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44. West northwest wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
