Wisconsin Supreme Court hears arguments on 1800’s abortion ban

MADISON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Wisconsin Supreme Court heard arguments on whether a law from the 1800's, that bans abortion, can still be enforced. Sheboygan County's District Attorney, Daniel Urmanski, has asked the high court to overturn a Dane County Circuit Judge ruling from last year. That ruling says the 1849 law bans feticide, which is defined as killing a fetus without the mother's consent but does not ban consensual abortions.

The liberal majority Supreme Court isn't expected to give a ruling for weeks. It is likely that the Dane County ruling, which would allow abortion, will stand.
