Woking: Council launches smart tech service for vulnerable people

B.James36 min ago
Vulnerable and disabled people in a Surrey town can now get help installing smart technology to help them in their homes.

Woking Borough Council's new Careline Plus service will supply and install items such as video doorbells, voice controlled lights and voice assistants.

Staff will also demonstrate how the technology can best be used.

As well as helping people with a disability or those who suffer from social isolation, it is also hoped it will benefit carers.

Ellen Nicholson, the council's portfolio holder for living well, said: "Smart technology can be extremely beneficial for our elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents and it can make a massive difference in helping with day-to-day routines.

"We know technology changes rapidly and it can sometimes seem confusing or daunting when it is not used in someone's daily life.

"Woking's new service should mean nobody is left behind."

More information is available on the council's website.
