A 20-year-old woman has been charged in the March 29 hit-and-run that injured 15 people, four of them N.C. A&T students, at an outdoor gathering in Greensboro.

According to a news release from the Greensboro Police Department, Zamyria Nicole Maness of Greensboro was served Monday with warrants charging her with 15 counts of felony hit-and-run, nine counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and six counts of assault with a deadly weapon, among other offenses.

Maness is also accused of falsely reporting that the vehicle linked to the hit-and-run, a black Nissan sedan, had been stolen. Police spokeswoman Annette Ayres said Wednesday that Maness made the report after the hit-and-run took place, on the same night.

The hit-and-run happened on a Friday when a crowd estimated in the hundreds — and growing — had gathered downtown for a party that was being thrown as part of Aggie Week festivities.

The revelers moved as a group down South Eugene ending up at a place called The Neighborhood Store at 1301 S. Eugene St. It was there, around 7:20 p.m., that the driver of the black Nissan decided to leave in a hurry.

As the crowd was dispersing, the car struck multiple people on West Whittington Street, which is adjacent to the convenience store.

The victims in the hit-and-run ranged in age from 18 to 22. None of their injuries were considered life-threatening, police said.

The black Nissan, which was registered to Maness, was later found abandoned.

In addition to the hit-and-run, assault and false-report charges, Maness is also charged with careless and reckless driving, failure to reduce speed, failure to stop, having no operator's license and operating a vehicle with no insurance.

She is currently being held at the Guilford County Jail on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled for an Aug. 7 court appearance.

In a related investigation by the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement Division, Moses Wachira, the owner of The Neighborhood Store, was charged April 9 with failure to superintend and allowing conduct on a licensed premise on the night of the hit-and-run.

Wachira's wife, Yordanos Tesfay, who manages the store, was charged with allowing conduct on a licensed premise.

Javari Anderson, Isaiah Wesson, Braden Sales, Tavarius Miller, Keandre Williams, and Taknowledge Wagner were all charged with being unlicensed armed security at the gathering.

Additionally, Myles Lamar Matthews was charged with hiring the unlicensed armed security.
