Woman arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, child endangerment after deadly San Jose crash on Sunday

SAN JOSE — A person has been arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes in connection to a deadly hit-and-run collision early Sunday morning in South San Jose, according to police.

  • Police said in a news release Monday afternoon that a woman driving a 2016 Range Rover SUV was traveling eastbound on Capitol Expressway around 12:34 a.m. Sunday when she hit and killed a man who was on foot.

    The man, who died later at a hospital, was walking in a marked crosswalk, authorities said. His identity was yet to be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner as of Monday.

    The woman had two children in her vehicle at the time of the crash, police said. She fled the scene but was later found at her home. She was arrested on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and child endangerment, police said.

    The collision marked the 44th fatal collision in the city this year and the 25th pedestrian death, according to police.
