Woman Charged with Murder After Roommate Vanished on Christmas Day 2022

A woman in Florida has been charged with second-degree murder after her roommate was last seen on Christmas Day two years ago. According to a statement by the Orlando Police Department on Facebook, Gisselle Victoria-Gonzalez has been charged with one count of second-degree murder, one count of tampering with physical evidence and one count of grand theft in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Runyleidy Medina-Pacheco. Medina-Pacheco, 42, was reported missing on Dec. 27, 2022. Victoria-Gonzalez, also 42, contacted police to say she had not seen her roommate since Dec. 25, 2022, but as the authorities' investigation continued, "detectives discovered numerous inconsistencies in the version of events as described by Victoria-Gonzalez," per the OPD. "A search warrant was executed at their residence, where significant evidence was recovered, indicating a violent incident had occurred," the police statement continued. Multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies were able to find Victoria-Gonzalez living in Hartford, Connecticut, and after conducting an additional interview with her, police were able to arrest and charge Victoria-Gonzalez. In a video released by the OPD, Victoria-Gonzalez can be seen in a red dress and handcuffs while being led to an elevator by law enforcement. Per local media outlet NBC Connecticut , authorities said Medina-Pacheco had traveled from her home in the Dominican Republic to Orlando for an extended vacation in October 2022 and was living with an acquaintance she knew from home.
