"While speaking to officers, Marinez appeared to be visibly impaired by alcohol and was verbally aggressive toward officers," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said. "It is believed that Marinez then kicked an officer twice in the leg.

"Marinez was taken to the ground and placed into custody without further incident. At the Joliet Police Department, Marinez refused to cooperate with the booking process and made multiple threats to kill the officers."

According to Joliet police, Marinez was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of DUI, aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest and obstructing justice.

English noted that at 9:47 p.m. on Wednesday, the officers responded to Plainfield Road and Cleary Avenue for a single vehicle traffic crash. Officers learned that Marinez was driving a Mitsubishi Outlander eastbound on Plainfield Road approaching Cleary Avenue, at which time she veered to the left into the opposing lanes and struck a light pole, causing the vehicle to stop. Marinez complained of minor injuries and was evaluated at the crash scene by Joliet Fire Department paramedics.
