Woman escapes cabin after kidnapping, sexual assault

BOSSIER PARISH, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man from Elm Grove they said held a woman against her will for days and sexually assaulted her.

The BPSO dispatched deputies to the Red River South Marina on Friday to what was reported to be a domestic incident. Authorities said Gary Keith Free, of Elm Grove, held a woman against her will in a cabin on the property. He reportedly sexually assaulted her over the course of three days.

Man suspected of slashing woman's throat, arrested

On Friday afternoon, the woman managed to escape, fleeing the cabin. The BPSO said Free chased her armed with a handgun. He reportedly threatened two employees and one resident of the marina with the firearm while the event was occurring.

Deputies found the victim and took her to safety. Free reportedly jumped in the water at the marina to hide from the deputies but was located by a BPSO K-9.

Authorities took Free into custody and recovered the firearm. After detectives interviewed him, Free was arrested and taken to the Bossier Maximum-Security Facility.

Free is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, domestic abuse aggravated assault, and three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. His bond was set at $2.1 million.
