MIAMI (WFOR) - Police are looking for the person who shot three women after an argument broke out over the election at a Miami apartment complex.

Police say the shooting happened early Wednesday morning at an apartment complex in Miami. A group of people were drinking then started arguing about the election. That's when someone walked to a vehicle, pulled out a gun and began shooting.

Police say three women in their late 20s to early 30s were shot, one of whom was hospitalized in critical condition with an injury to her stomach. The other two victims are in stable condition.

"This is something that is of concern to us," said Miami Police spokesman Mike Vega. "There is no place for violence, especially over a difference of opinion in politics."

Neighbor Suly Ashe says she woke up when she heard the gunfire at 12:25 a.m.

"I heard somebody screaming and didn't want to open the door and put myself at risk. It sounded like four shots," she said. "It is horrible. Whoever is president now is president for all of us, whether we are Democrat or Republican. It doesn't matter. It's our country. It's very sad that this happened."

Investigators are still working to name a suspect.

"This is not acceptable. We have to handle our differences and respect each other's beliefs. We need to either reach an agreement or simply avoid such topics," Vega said.

Miami Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
