Woman shoots man in chest, takes off after fight at midtown Atlanta gas station

Two women got into a fight with a man, shot him in the chest and took off before officers arrived on Tuesday morning, according to Atlanta police.

The shooting happened Tuesday around 3:38 a.m. at the Chevron gas station on the corner of Ponce de Leon Ave. and Piedmont Ave.

Channel 2 Action News photojournalist captured video of police putting crime scene tape around the gas station.

The initial investigation shows that the man who was shot and two women got into a physical fight inside the gas station. They eventually went outside where police said one of the women shot the man in the chest.

The women got into a car and kept shooting at the man as they drove off, according to police. Paramedics took the man to Grady Memorial Hospital, but did not release his condition.

Police are still investigating what led to the fight and searching for the suspects.
