TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - For many veterans, life outside the military can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding a job.

"East Texas has the second largest population of veterans in the state, but dead last in resources," said CampV Development Director Trent Goodwin.

Transitioning from military to civilian life can often come with challenges for veterans. Goodwin says that lack of resources often includes mental health and job opportunities.

The annual 'Red, White, and You' job fair is an event designed to help veterans transition from military to civilian life by offering them to be in one location where they can apply for multiple positions simultaneously. Ranging from 300 to 1,000 veterans each year, the event also allows for both men and women veterans to network.

"With employment specifically, we like to be involved with things like Red, White and You," Goodwin said. "So, that we can help veterans find employment through a trusted source."

Stephen Lynch, the community outreach manager at Workforce Solutions in Tyler, said over 74 different employers will be there, with services ranging from manufacturing to finance to medical and more.

The job fair will take place Wednesday at the Tyler Rose Garden Complex from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will begin with a special presentation in honor of East Texans veterans from all different services.

"I feel very privileged to be able to work for the veterans of East Texas and support them," Goodwin said.

He also said giving the veterans this job fair opportunity allows them to know they are cared for by their community.
