Wrexham: Phil Parkinson confirms extent of Steven Fletcher knee injury

Wrexham are set to be without striker Steven Fletcher for two to three weeks due to a knee injury.

Ahead of his side's League One trip to Stockport County this Saturday, boss Phil Parkinson confirmed Arthur Okonkwo, Will Boyle and Luke Bolton were all set for significant spells on the sidelines .

The head coach also stated Fletcher - who has not featured since a 1-0 win at Rotherham United on 19 October - was set to see a specialist, with the forward now unlikely to be available until early December.

"Fletch had to have an injection in his knee. It's probably looking at two to three weeks for him," said Parkinson.

Goalkeeper Okonkwo is due to be further assessed by a specialist on Monday after suffering a broken wrist.

Despite the issues picked up by Boyle and Bolton - who were both injured at Port Vale in midweek - Parkinson says he does not expect to be in the market for more defensive options during the January transfer window.

"I think with those two (Boyle and Bolton) injuries, they'll be back by January anyway so that wouldn't make us move in that department in the transfer window," he added.

Wrexham sit third in League One, four points adrift of leaders Wycombe Wanderers, as they prepare to face sixth-placed Stockport.

Dave Challinor's outfit are just three places and four points behind Wrexham as the pair lock horns in the third tier having both gained promotion from League Two last season.

"We've had some good battles against them over the last few years," added Parkinson.

"Another full house, we've been to some great stadiums so far this season - Charlton with 24,000, Birmingham nearly at capacity, Bolton the same.

"It's another one of those days where it's going to be packed with a great atmosphere.

"We've got to look to enjoy that again because we've worked hard to get to these types of games at this level."
