15-year-old arrested for bringing gun to school in Elyria

ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - A teen was arrested by Elyria police after they were called to Black River Career Prep School after staff reported a disturbance involving a student who possibly had a gun on school property Wednesday morning. When officers arrived they immediately detained the 15-year-old suspect. The school staff enacted lockdown measures to ensure the safety of all students and faculty, according to a press release from police. While on scene officers learned following a fight among a group of students, information surfaced suggesting that the suspect had brought a gun onto school property. Officers said the firearm was not brought into the school building but found out it was in a wooded area nearby. Police said the juvenile admitted to possessing the firearm, and stated he planned to sell it after school hours. The teen now faces multiple felony charges related to weapons offenses and has been transported to a juvenile detention facility. This is a developing story.
