12-year-old boy shot and killed in south Sacramento residential neighborhood, police say
A 12-year-old boy was shot and killed Saturday evening in the Meadowview neighborhood, according to the Sacramento Police Department. It was third fatal shooting in less than 24 hours in the city.
The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. on the 7600 block of 22nd Street near Meadowview Road, said Officer Anthony Gamble, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department. Responding officers found the boy with at least one gunshot wound.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, Gamble said. His identity was expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
Police said they did not have a description of the gunman and were asking for the public's help in locating a suspect.
