16-year-old dies after Tuesday night shooting near Oklahoma and 27th in Milwaukee

A 16-year-old has died following a shooting Tuesday night on Milwaukee's south side.

Police say the shooting occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. in the 2700 block of West Oklahoma Avenue. This is the area of Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center and multiple fast-food restaurants. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Milwaukee police say they continue to seek the unknown suspect or suspects.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. They later died at the hospital.

There have been 118 reported homicides in Milwaukee so far this year, according to police data . That's a 21% decrease from last year at this time and a 38% decrease from 2022.
