The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) said the teenage boy was arrested on school grounds after detectives determined the student was the person who pulled the trigger.

Following an investigation, detectives said the victim was sitting on a couch inside a home in West Palm Beach when the gun went off across the room on October 14.

Paramedics took the boy, who was shot in the leg, to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment. Luckily, the victim was released the same day.

While the gun that was used to injure the victim has yet to be recovered, the second gun was later found at the 12-year-old suspect's home.

According to police, the 14-year-old suspect refused to cooperate and was taken to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Assessment Center where he faces one felony count of culpable negligence.

At this time, WPBPD said there are no other arrests, but the investigation is still active.
