12-year-old hurt in Marion County hit-and-run crash, FHP searches for driver

BELLEVIEW, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for the driver accused of crashing into a 12-year-old girl and leaving the scene. Troopers say that around 4 p.m. Wednesday, a girl was walking on the shoulder of Southeast 36th Avenue (County Road 467) in Belleview, just south of 107th Place. A vehicle, described by witnesses as a white 4-door pickup truck towing a utility trailer, hit the child. The driver didn't stop and continued heading east on 36th Avenue. The victim suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Troopers ask anyone with information on the driver to contact FHP Regional Communications Center at 904-359-6572.that around 4 p.m.
