72-year-old inmate dies at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center

(FOX40.COM) — A 72-year-old inmate at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center died Sunday, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said.

According to the sheriff's office, the man "appeared to have had a medical emergency" in the facility's North Medical Corridor and collapsed.

Cosumnes Fire Department personnel attempted to save the man but he was eventually pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office said it would investigate the death and that the Sacramento County Coroner's Office would determine a cause of death.
