22-year-old man shot by police in Washtenaw County

olice shot a 22-year-old Ypsilanti man Saturday night after he stabbed a 53-year-old woman. Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were called around 8 p.m., Sept. 21, to a vehicle crash near Geddes Road and Woodlands Drive in Superior Township, police said. As emergency responders were enroute, additional calls came in that a passenger in the vehicle had stabbed the driver and was attempting to assault people on scene, police said. When police arrived, they said they found the 22-year-old man armed with a knife. Deputies shot the man in response to the threat, police said. Deputies provided immediate medical assistance until the man could be taken to the hospital, police said. The driver, a 53-year-old woman, suffered multiple stab wounds, police said, adding she was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Michigan State Police are leading the investigation, police said.
