72-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Fairfax County Police Department said it is investigating after a 72-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash on Oct. 30.

Police said that just before 4 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Field Master Drive and Old Kenne Mill Road in Springfield.

Their investigation revealed that 72-year-old Mohammed Rastegar, of Springfield, was driving a 2018 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Old Keen Mill Road when he hit a 2017 Honda Civic that was trying to make a left turn.

Rastegar was taken to the hospital, where he died later that evening.

Fairfax County police said the preliminary investigation determined that speed and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.
