37-year-old Omaha man arrested, charged in Papillion crash that killed one person
Sarpy County deputies arrested a 37-year-old Omaha man accused of killing a 26-year-old male passenger in a single-vehicle crash in Papillion in early October.
Deputies arrested the man weeks after he allegedly crashed a 2021 Ram 1500 pickup truck near the Richland Drive and Glenn Street intersection on Oct. 11. The crash killed Juan Guillen, a passenger in the pickup. The man has been charged with motor vehicle homicide. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
A preliminary investigation showed the man was allegedly driving south in the pickup at high speed when it crashed, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the extensively damaged truck resting against a tree in the median. The crash was captured on a security camera at a home nearby.
Guillen died at the scene. Papillion Fire Department medics took the man to Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy for treatment of serious injuries.
