74-Year-Old Scooter Rider Killed By Bus In Brooklyn: NYPD

The victim was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital on Wednesday night.BROOKLYN, NY — A Prevost bus driver hit and killed an electric scooter rider in Downtown Brooklyn on Wednesday night, New York City Police Department officials said.
The crash happened at 8:15 p.m. at the corner of Tillary Street and Jay Street, according to the police.
The bus driver was traveling southbound on Jay Street and making a right turn onto Tillary Street, when it hit an electric scooter also traveling on Jay Street, officials said.
The 74-year-old was thrown from his scooter and hit the pavement when the back tires of the bus drove over him, police said.
The victim sustained severe trauma to the head and body, and was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m., according to the police.
The bus driver stayed on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made yet, the NYPD officials said.
The name of the scooter rider is being kept private until his family can be properly notified, police said.
