22-year-old Vineland woman killed in crash, passenger in critical condition, police say

A Vineland woman died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night that also left a man in critical condition, police said.

Maria Vazquez, 22, was driving on South Orchard Road before 9 p.m. when her car ran off the road, hit several trees and flipped over, police said. Vazquez was thrown from the car and was later pronounced dead at Vineland Inspira Hospital.

The passenger, Rubisel Lopez-Uribe, 38, also of Vineland, was trapped in the 2014 black Dodge Dart. He was flown to Cooper University Hospital, police said.

No charges were filed in the crash and police said they didn’t know what caused Vazquez to drive off the road.
