York VFW holds October meeting
YORK - The York VFW met on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 at the Post Home at 2 p.m.
Connie Hubbard, president, presided over the meeting with six members present.
Opening ceremonies were conducted as to ritual.
Chaplain, Jan Tiffany opened with prayer.
Six officers answered roll call. Secretary, JoAnn Kuester read the September minutes. They were approved with corrections and put on file.
Marcia Witmer, treasurer, gave the treasurer's report. It was approved and put on file. Marcia presented a bill for additional expense for the shed of $150.70. Jan made a motion to pay the bill and Laurie Nelson seconded it. Motion carried.
On October 27, Berniece Mason will be 104. We are encouraged to send her birthday wishes.
Connie shared news from the newsletter. Our membership is at 77%.
We are printing another banner for the slum feed from North Office Printing. It will be similar to the one we made for Memorial Day Services. It will have the flag and the emblems of the branches of the military and have printed on it.
Marcia went to the District Fall Conference in Kearney on Oct 4 and 5. She shared that our district 9 is second in membership.
Jan closed with prayer.
The next meeting is November 14, at the post home.
