LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — A piece of Las Vegas history is going up for sale with a price tag in the millions.

On Wednesday, the Las Vegas City Council approved selling Cashman Center at auction starting at $33.9 million.

The 10,000-seat stadium has been home to various sporting events since the 1940s. From Major League Baseball to football games and political events, the venue has hosted a variety of events during its time in downtown Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Lights soccer team remains the sole players on the field, but they could soon be without a home with this sale.

The City of Las Vegas has attempted to redevelop and revitalize the area since they acquired the property from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in 2017.

The latest attempt was with Tru Development for a Children's Hospital but that fell through last year.

The stadium and its properties will hit the open market on Nov. 12 through an online auction. The sale will close on Nov. 19 with the Las Vegas City Council reviewing the final bid on Dec. 4.

A plan for the site could be released in time for the new year.
