Young man shot dead during fight in Trenton, authorities say

A fight between two people in Trenton's West Ward Sunday afternoon after ended with gunfire, and one of them dead, authorities said.

City police officers responding to a 12:30 p.m. report of gunshots at Parkside and Homan avenues found a male, about 20 years old, suffering from a gunshot wounded. He died a short time later at a hospital in the city, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

A Trenton police spokesperson said the incident apparently started with two people fighting, and ended with one shot. They are assisting the prosecutor's Homicide Task Force in the investigation.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victim. No arrests or charges were announced by either agency.
