"On the campaign I would often say, when we fight, we win," Harris said. "But here's the thing, sometimes the fight takes a while. But that doesn't mean we won't win." A military judge ruled that plea deals struck by alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two co-defendants are valid, voiding an order from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to toss the agreements, a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity told The Associated Press. Unless the deals are challenged again, the judge's ruling could mean that the three 9/11 defendants could enter guilty pleas in the U.S. military courtroom at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and potentially spare them the risk of the death penalty. That would be a step toward wrapping up the long-running prosecution in one of the deadliest attacks on the U.S. Full report >
